Challenge
Designing an airline company website involves challenges like real-time flight booking integration and secure multi-currency payments (M-Pesa, credit cards). Ensuring mobile-friendly UX with multilingual support (English, Arabic, Swahili) is crucial. Compliance with aviation regulations, IATA standards, and visa requirements adds complexity. Managing fraud prevention, cancellations, and refunds while ensuring customer trust is essential. Airline partnerships and API integration for real-time pricing and scheduling are key.
What I Did
In this project, I worked on setting clear goals and objectives to define the direction and purpose. I created user personas to understand the target audience and their needs. Then, I mapped out taskflows to visualize how users navigate and complete key actions. To gain industry insights, I conducted competitive research to analyze similar products. I started the design process with low-fidelity prototypes, creating rough wireframes to test ideas quickly. Finally, I developed high-fidelity designs, refining visuals and interactions for a polished user experience.

Jubba Airways, a leading East African airline, sought to modernize its digital presence by upgrading from an outdated website to a dynamic platform that meets evolving travel demands. After analyzing their website and customer engagement, we recommended a complete overhaul of the user experience, with a strong focus on streamlining the booking process to drive conversions, repeat visits, and mobile engagement. “An airline booking system is more than just a form,” Memoria stated. “Our goal was to create an intuitive and enjoyable experience, making booking flights seamless and effortless. Many travelers book their flights while multitasking—some on their way to the airport, others during a coffee break, and some even while watching a movie. Users also expressed the need for a seamless experience that goes beyond just booking flights, including options for transportation, hotel reservations, and local attractions. We validated the insight that travelers often book flights while engaged in other activities. Ultimately, they prefer a fast, intuitive, and hassle-free booking process that fits effortlessly into their daily routines.
